Senior Awards Night

Last night we went to the high school for Senior Awards Night. They were honoring the men that joined the military that are graduating this year.......this would be Kyle.

The high school did a very nice program. When the young men were handed the flags the madrigal choir was singing America the Beautiful. It was very touching.

Satchel was 6 months old yesterday. He is a big beautiful boy. The training lessons were well worth every penny. He will go off leash out into the field with us and stay right by our side if we tell him heel. If we tell him to lay down and stay he won't move from that spot until he is released. Truly amazing. we are working with him every day and he is doing so well.

bath time

He really needed a bath when he got home. Into the bathtub he went this morning. No, that is not dirty water on the bottom of the bath tub, it is a towel so he isn't slipping all over the place. He is so good when he has his baths. And now he is soft and smells so much better.

Satchel is home!!!

Here he is on his way home from the doggie camp. he was exhausted.

Satchel is home!!!

We spent three 1/2 hours there doing the transfer. She had to train us on how he was trained. Satchel did so good up there. We put him into a down/stay and he stayed right there, never moved, she let in other dogs and they played all around him and he never moved, we left the area and hid behind a bush,he never moved. He did so very well with all the commands. We were very impressed. When we first got there we were told to ignore him, we did and that was very hard, he finally came over to us and smelled us and then rubbed and rolled allover us, back and forth from one to another. He was so happy to see us. We were so afraid he wouldn't recognize us but that was not the case. We finally got done wiht the transition and came home. Once back in the back yard it is like he has completely forgotten everything he learned and is back to his old tricks. The thing is that we now have to reinforce everything he learned here. So now that we know what to do we have to start doing that here. He has a really good foundation to grow on and now it is our turn to be the trainers. He has grown and it is so good to have him home!!!

just stuff

We get to pick Satchel up tomorrow!!! Both Jerry and I are a bit nervous, will he recognize us? We cannot wait to get him home.
Kyle has finished school and will graduate on June 6! This has been a very long haul for him and it was iffy at times whether or not he would graduate but now that is all over. whew. He ships off to bootcamp on June 17. I wish I could make time stand still so June 17 never comes.

Satchel

Satchel is coming home in one week. We go and pick him up next friday. We will spend from 3-5 hours there to transition. Now we have to learn everything that he has learned. He will probably be a better student than we. The report so far is that he is very friendly and stubborn. He would rather play than listen and obey. Just like his owner.

mono

Kyle has come down with mono. Yes, the kissing disease. He insists that he hasn't been kissing but......... This is our first experience with mono and it is not pretty...at all. He is so tired he can barely stay awake, his throat is so swollen and sore he cannot swallow. We ended up in the ER yesterday. They put him on two IV bags and gave him steriods via the IV to help with the swelling. He was feeling better last night and ate some pancakes this morning. Hopefully he is on the mend.

On the fur baby side, Satchel is still away at boarding school. The reports have been that he is a social butterfly, very stubborn and wants to do things his way. We are missing him horribly and this had better be worth having him away for so long. He has been there for one week and has two more weeks to go. I have threatened several times to go there and kidnap him. I am so torn between my wanting him here at home and yet wanting him to be properly trained. If I am like this with him being away how in the world am I going to handle it when Kyle goes to boot camp.
